Stephen Burroughes writes to the website:
Could you put the word out that we need sensible management of grit bins within the village. Good money was spent on purchasing these bins following public demand. They were used when first installed but now are mostly ignored and unused.
I would be really pleased to see some good citizens volunteer to monitor conditions and spread the grit mix when and where appropriate to assist safe driving, cycling & walking etc. If I could do this myself I would but for obvious reasons I am unable to.
It's important these bins are used otherwise they could well be deployed elsewhere.
Thanks to Tony Watts (I assume it is Tony) for using the bin and gritting the road surface adjacent to their home. It makes a huge difference on frosty mornings.

(Problems because of lack of clear advice from Parish Council regarding insurance for grit spreaders. This is hopefully being rectified (probably too late) at present! - Webmaster)
